This accommodation provider has taken action to address one or more issues (whether environmental, social or cultural) which will contribute positively to the long term viability of the destination and hence their site displays a Caring for the destination rating.

Main area of focus in Caring for the Destination:  

Energy saving, environment protection, and the preservation of the traditional cuisine are the main areas of focus.

Detailed description of the Caring for the Destination Initiative: 

Hotel Residence is one of the rare small hotels in Montenegro that took into account the importance of energy saving and environmental protection. The hotel is using solar energy and bio fuels for most of its needs, and biodegradable cleaning materials as well. As most of small family-run hotels have not taken into account these issues, Hotel Residence is one of the outstanding examples in that aspect.

But Mitrovic - Milic family, who owning and is running the hotel, has been known for establishment of the first gastro club and degree programs in culinary management; they have initiated Montenegro National Cuisine project that was conducted together with National Tourism Organization of Montenegro. The food used in the hotel is local origin, and the hotel restaurant is offering quite a selection of various gastronomic specialties, Montenegrin national as well as international. The restaurant and culinary center often organizes various thematic evenings.

In 2010, Mitrovic - Milic family has initiated a new project which will feature monastery cuisine and old traditional and often forgotten specialties. They are also preparing a TV series on the topic, hoping to raise awareness on the importance of preservation of the traditional cuisine from the region.
